Pentagon maakt namen acht gedode militairen schietpartij vliegveld Kabul bekend

Het Amerikaanse ministerie van Defensie heeft vrijdag de identiteit bekendgemaakt van de acht soldaten die woensdag werden gedood door een Afghaanse piloot.

Volgens een verklaring van het Pentagon gaat het om een sergeant, twee kapiteins, vier majoors en een luitenant-kolonel, allen van de luchtmacht. Onder de doden is een vrouw.

De militairen sneuvelden woensdag toen een piloot van de Afghaanse luchtmacht op het Afghan Air Force Headquarters in Kabul het vuur op zijn Amerikaanse collega’s opende.

Bij de schietpartij kwam ook een contractarbeider uit de VS om. Ook de Afghaanse piloot werd doodgeschoten.

De VS meldt bij dodelijke slachtoffers altijd dat ze de Operation Enduring Freedom ondersteunden.

The Department of Defense announced today the deaths of eight airmen who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

They died April 27, at the Kabul International Airport, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered from gunfire. The incident is under investigation.
